About the Designer

Kristen Orme has been knitting and designing knitting patterns for over ten years.  From hobby to obsession, knitting is now lifestyle.  The design process is experiential, through rigorous swatching, experimenting and texting.  The stitch designs itself. 

Her MA submission focused on Sustainable Design for Knitwear, investigating reversible textiles, which can be viewed  here.    It has been featured in The Skinny and received recognition from the Worshipful Society of Woolmen, as well as the UKHKA Graduate Textiles Exhibition at Alexandra Palace.


Kristen most recent position was as Hand-Knit Production and Design Manager at Eribe Knitwear Design in Galashiels, Scotland.  She additionally teaches knitting classes and publishes knitting patterns.  Her designs have been published in several magazines, including Cloth and Knit Now, with more due out this year.
